Summer AP Assignments 2017
If you enrolled in the semester-long World History 9 course as a freshman and are currently enrolled in AP World History for your sophomore year, you will need to complete a summer assignment that will cover the Post-Classical World (600-1450), a unit taught in the year-long World History 9 Honors course, but not in the semester-long option.
You have two options for fulfilling this assignment.
A. You can check out the AP World History textbook over the summer. To do this you need to visit Mr. Mullen in room D103 during lunch. Please do so before you leave school for the summer. Be sure to tell him you are checking the book out over the summer, this will prevent you from receiving a fine when you keep the book past June. Please read chapters 13-21 (p. 258-461). Attached to this email, please find the assessment packets you should complete as you finish each chapter or pair of chapters. Please complete all the multiple-choice questions, write ONE of the two short answer questions, and complete the think and write as a historian activities. Please also review the attached World History Lexicon.
B. You can purchase the 2017 edition of the AP World History review book by Amsco (https://www.perfectionlearning.com/social-studies/advanced-placement/world-history-ap-exam.html). In this book the relevant chapters are 7-14 (p. 131-275). At the end of each chapter, please complete all the multiple-choice questions, write ONE of the two short answer questions, and complete the think and write as a historian activities. You do not need to open the PDF documents attached to this email, however you should review the attached World History Lexicon.
If you are currently finishing World History 9, double check that you meet the pre-requisite for the course (final grade of B+ or better) before beginning the assignment. Students without the requisite final grade will be removed from the course.
Please complete the reading assignment and email me your assessments by August 21st.
Mr. McDonald and I look forward to meeting you in September. If you have any questions regarding the assignment or AP World History in general, please feel free to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org).
