Lake Washington School District has a strong and active music program, with classes for everyone from beginners to students with years of experience. These young musicians perform in concerts, festivals, and in the community throughout the year, which prepares them for continuing their musical journeys in high school and beyond.
Students from three Lake Washington School District high schools have qualified for nearly 70 theatre awards. About 60 students from Eastlake, Juanita and Redmond high schools are in contention for an International Thespian Excellence Award, or Thespy for short.
Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students have always excelled in art and writing, and this year is no different. Thirty-eight LWSD students were recognized during this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
A student at Redmond High School will be gaining practical work and life experience through a paid internship. Conan Lu, class of 2022, was selected as a Bank of America Student Leader. He is one of only 300 students across the country selected for this honor and just one of seven from Washington state.
Redmond High School (RHS) teacher Jeff Gehring is finding out that his influence goes beyond his current high school classroom. Gehring is the recipient of the University of Washington (UW) Paul Allen School of Engineering Inspirational Teacher award.
