Meet our Administrative Team
Jill VanderVeer
Principal
Jill VanderVeer is proud and honored to serve as Principal of Redmond High School. Ms.VanderVeer is originally from Long Island, NY. She earned her BA in English Literature from Mary Washington College in Virginia, her MA in Secondary Education from Dowling College in NY, and her administrative credential from Stony Brook University in NY.
Ms.VanderVeer started her career as a high school English teacher, and in that time, taught grades 9-12 and all levels including honors and Advanced Placement. She served as department chairperson and as an Associate Principal at RHS before becoming Principal. Ms.VanderVeer believes in the RHS foundational principles of Honor, Excellence, Respect and Diversity, and she is excited to continue working with Redmond families preparing students for their futures.
Ms.VanderVeer and her husband live in Issaquah, and they love the home they have made in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Rob Jones
Associate Principal
Rob Jones graduated from Geneva College (2004) with a B.A. in English and Secondary Education and then from West Chester University (2008) with a Master of Arts degree. Before moving to Seattle in 2010, he taught for 4 years in Virginia. Mr. Jones taught English and History for 8 years at Eastlake High School, while also serving as a Department Chair in the Humanities Department for 4 years and earning his National Boards. He finished his tenure at Eastlake by serving as the school’s first Dean of Students, while completing his Administrative Certification through WWU’s Woodring College of Education.
Rob and his wife, Brittany, have a son, Hazard, and live in Seattle. Predictably he enjoys reading, but also camping, live music, and woodworking. He is excited to be a member of the Redmond High School administrative team and looks forward to working with the staff, students, and community to ensure it’s a welcoming, challenging, and supportive school.
Katerina Gilday
Associate Principal
The 2023-2024 school year marks Trina's 20th year as a Redmond Mustang where she has served as an English teacher, Activities Coordinator, Dean of Students, and now enters her third year as Associate Principal. Trina grew up in Mukilteo, WA and is a proud graduate of Washington State University where she earned her BA in English in 2000. Trina student taught (2003), got her first teaching job (2004), and completed her administrative internship as part of a MA in Educational Leadership (2020), all within the Lake Washington School District. Trina's favorite aspects of Redmond High School are the diverse community, the amazing staff, and the connections she gets to make with students. Trina seeks to connect and engage students and families in our educational community.
When not working, Trina loves spending time with her family. Her husband, Tyler, twin 12-year olds Hank and Zane, and their dog Snoop. They are huge fans of camping, sporting events, board games, and general silliness. Trina is excited for another amazing year of all things Redmond High School. Go Mustangs!
Christine McMillan
Associate Principal
Christine McMillan is originally from Chicago, IL, where she earned her B.A in English and Secondary Education at Northeastern Illinois University. She taught in the Chicago Public School System before moving to Washington. Ms. McMillan began her career with the Lake Washington School District as an English teacher at Redmond High School in 2002. In 2016, she earned her Master’s in Educational Administration from Seattle Pacific University. For the last 5 years, Ms. McMillan served as an Associate Principal at Juanita High School.
Ms. McMillan lives in Woodinville with her husband Chris, and their daughter Lorelei. Christine loves to read, travel, and is an avid sports fan. She is thrilled to return to and serve Redmond High School, its students, families, and the community.
Dr. Stacy Mehlberg
Associate Principal
Dr. Stacy Mehlberg is joining Redmond High School after serving as the Associate Principal at Finn Hill Middle School for the past three years. She earned her B.A. in Fine Art and Psychology from Virginia Tech (1997), followed by a Master’s in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2000). Dr. Mehlberg's academic journey culminated with a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seattle Pacific University (2016). Before transitioning to Educational Leadership, she worked as an Art Therapist and teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia, and an educational researcher and instructional leader in the Seattle area.
Dr. Mehlberg has a deep passion for painting, yoga, and public education. Originally from New Jersey, she now resides in Kirkland, WA, with her husband Rich, her puppy Harper, and her three children. Her commitment to fostering a supportive, equitable, and inclusive educational environment focused on staff and student wellbeing is the heart of her work as a building leader and educator.
Ryan Sherlock
Dean of Students
Ryan Sherlock is joining Redmond High School after serving in the Seattle Public School District for the past 12 years. Ryan is coming from Roosevelt High School in Seattle where, for the past eight years, he served as the Athletic Director, head football coach, and health and fitness teacher. Prior to that, Ryan was at Washington Middle School in the central district of Seattle and at Pathfinder K8 in West Seattle, serving as the Athletic Director, physical education teacher, and department chair. Ryan is a proud graduate of Washington State University (2000) where he earned his BA in Kinesiology. Ryan then earned his teaching certificate and Masters in secondary education from Antioch University Seattle in 2008.
Ryan and his wife Galen live in Northeast Seattle with their daughter Emily and dog Griffey. Their daughter Grace is a new freshman at the University of Arizona. When Ryan is not working, he and his family love to travel, attend live music, go boating and are big sports fans. Ryan is excited for the opportunity and challenge to be a part of such a dynamic and diverse community like Redmond High School. He looks forward to establishing sincere positive relationships with students, staff and community and contributing to the success of Redmond High School and helping our students grow into lifelong learners.
